New nature center & museum proposed for Verde Valley.

A new concept for a nature center and environmental museum,
called the Arizona EnviroZeum, is being been proposed for the
Verde Valley that has stirred the interest of many people.
The concept has been under development for the past several
years. The non-profit educational and research organization
will focus on environmental anthropology, archeology, and the
natural history of Arizona. Rich Kimble, spokesperson for
the organization, said “This institution is conceived to be a
catalyst for positive economic development for the entire
Verde Valley. As the area grows, Camp Verde, Cottonwood and
Sedona need work together to attract new business development
and create good jobs and benefits for the residents”.

This new organization combines various elements of what
traditionally are stand-alone institutions. These include a
nature center/arboretum, and a natural history and cultural
heritage museum, including a multi-purpose theater.
Depending on the location, they are exploring the opportunity
to include a “fluvarium”, meaning a stream habitat aquarium
that flows through the building. The combined components
create opportunities for immersive education encouraging
appropriate stewardship of the environment. The building
will be built with “green” principles and technology. The
building will be an integral part of the educational
experience demonstrating state-of-the-art construction
technology and energy systems.

The organization is seeking a home for the project, looking
at locations in Camp Verde, Cottonwood and Sedona. Kimble
said that a number of people have already indicated an
interest in contributing to the museum, and they recently
received a commitment for a significant lead gift. For more
information please contact Richard Kimble at 928-300-3698.
